Don’t Dump Your Broken Cell Phone, Fix It!
Like most people, you’ve probably owned and run through a couple of phones by now. Chances are, you’ve already experienced one or more of the following as well: casing problems and dock charging problems, to broken or shattered glass screens and battery woes.
Almost Everybody’s on Mobile
The Pew Research Center says that in October 2014, about 90 percent of American adults already owned a cell phone unit. And 64 percent of them were smartphone users. As reliance on cell phones grows, that also comes with a whole slew of problems for users. After all, the more you use a gadget, the faster and sooner it breaks down.
Repairing Broken Phones
If you’ve got a broken cell phone, don’t dump it the first chance you get. Instead, do what you can to fix it. Here are three common repair fixes you can try:
Broken Screen: Depending on how your phone is set up, this can cost you very little or a lot, says LifeHacker. Disassemble the device. Make sure you follow the guide to a tee. If the glass and digitizer – this is the layer that makes your taps into input – are fused or bonded together, then you’re looking at a very expensive replacement job. Use a data cable compatible with your model before you replace the screen or digitizer. If they’re not bonded, you’ll find it easy to buy and install a low-priced replacement screen.
Loose or Stuck Buttons: Your buttons giving you a hard time? You can easily swap hardware buttons, since most phones are easy enough to open.
Scratched Screens: You can use toothpaste to get rid of any small scratches or marks you have on your screen. Use a cotton swab to rub it into the screen then wipe the surface with a soft cloth. Don’t use gel toothpaste, though.
